Meet Clover! She is a 8 week old border collie puppy. She is Lexi's new best friend <3
and to those of you out there thinking Lexi's new best friend? Yes, we did get our 6 year old her own puppy. Over the past year Lexi has gotten up in the morning fed the dogs, she walks the dogs, she cleans up after the dogs, she has basically been taking care of three dogs. This is what she needed to do to prove to Mom and Dad that she is ready for her own pup. Ava isn't getting any younger and Lexi wants to continue on in agility. She is giving up company dance because she wants more agility time, and who am I to argue, the more agility she wants to do means more agility for me! We chose a border collie because she deserves s puppy who wants to work for her, Lexi has been a very patient little girl dealing with Ava at agility, she is not an easy dog to run, she is spoiled and bossy, but Lexi keeps working with her and they are becoming quite the team, but again, Ava will be 8 next month, retirement is in her near furture. So in comes Miss Clover for Lexi to learn to train and build a bond with.
We just brought her home yesterday and she is a great puppy already. She was a trooper on the 4 hour ride home and snuggled up and slept in Lexi's arms. Cutest thing ever! For about an hour all I heard in the back seat was Lexi telling Clover about the things she was going to teach her and about all the people and other dogs she was going to meet, then it went quiet, I turned around and this is what I saw.
Clover has been a great little pup already, she knows her name very well, and already has some very nice recalls going on with Lexi and knows to sit with the hand signal, tomorrow we will add the word. She is such a little sponge.
Storm, Ava and Blossom have all adjusted well to her, and the cats even have been tolerating the puppy antics. She is just so cute!
